Heartland Soccer Association Appoints Internship Program Director

Kansas City, KS – April 28- Heartland Soccer Association, America’s largest youth soccer league, announced today the appointment of Eric Scribner to Internship Program Director. He will be responsible for managing the program. This position was created to provide opportunities for aspiring college students to gain experience in business, advertising, marketing, sales, sports and event management in Kansas City and the surrounding area.

“Internships played a big role in my professional career.  While in college, I interned at the largest radio station in Kansas City.  It provided invaluable work experience and a gateway from the academic to the work world,” explained Shane Hackett, Executive Director of Heartland Soccer Association.  “I was able to work with the Royals Radio Network and ultimately start a career in radio which lead to working for Gannett and then managing radio stations across the country as well as ownership.  At Heartland, we can provide sports management, marketing, business operations and event management experience for college students.  It’s a great opportunity.”

Eric Scribner will be heading a team of interns on a year-round basis in an effort to develop innovative marketing strategies, work on projects, and contribute to the growth and success of soccer in Kansas City. Eric spent the last year with Heartland Soccer developing partnerships with local businesses. He has a Masters in Sport Management from Wichita State University and earned a dual degree in English and History at Kansas State University.

“I am honored to be leading our efforts to provide a platform for college students to gain valuable experience in this growing market,” stated Eric Scribner.  “Having gone through the internship process myself, it’s exciting to have the opportunity to influence and guide students through the process. By adding this program, Heartland Soccer will expand its role in the community by developing young talent in the area and incorporating innovative ideas from aspiring students into our marketing strategies.”
