Heartland Soccer Association Announces The Acquisition of America’s Largest Futsal League

Futsal KC will become Heartland Futsal

OVERLAND PARK, KS – Heartland Soccer Association announces the acquisition of Futsal KC – America’s largest futsal league.

Heartland Soccer Association is recognized as the largest soccer league in the United States and will be adding the largest indoor futsal league to its youth soccer offerings. A record number of 400 teams played in Kansas City’s futsal league last session. Today, the companies have announced the merging of league and tournament operations under the Heartland Soccer brand – Heartland Futsal.

Futsal KC league staff will join Heartland Soccer to manage the futsal soccer league and tournaments. Angelo Catenacci, League Director of Futsal KC, will continue as the League Director and oversee all operations of both premier and recreational league play. Shannon Johnson will remain in the position of League Administrator.

“We are excited to add the indoor training, league, and futsal tournaments for our growing number of youth soccer teams here in Kansas City,” said Shane Hackett, Executive Director of Heartland Soccer Association. “We look to expand futsal throughout Kansas City and the Midwest region to offer teams the option to play futsal in the winter and summer months to increase players’ ball skills and their speed of play.”

In addition to league operations, Heartland will manage the Futsal Magico El Clasico and Central Regional Championship tournaments.

Futsal is the only form of indoor soccer endorsed by FIFA. It is a 5 versus 5, small-sided game played on a hard surface, basketball-sized court with a smaller low bounce ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries but without walls.
