Overland Park, Kan. The ALDI Heartland Invitational continues its reputation as the biggest and best tournament in the Kansas City area. This weekend, 339 girls teams will compete at the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex and Swope Soccer Village. Next weekend, November 11-13, 431 boys teams will take the fields.
The 770 teams represent 12 different states─ Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming.
This massive end-of-the-year showdown continues to grow. In 2015, Heartland welcomed 692 teams, which was a jump of 101 teams from the previous year. With 78 more teams this year, the economic impact is projected to exceed $2.4 million.
“We are thrilled to host soccer players and families from all over the Midwest at our ALDI Heartland Invitational,” said Heartland Soccer Executive Director Shane Hackett. “This tournament continues to grow bigger and better every year. Thousands of players will experience what it is like to play on world class fields at Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex and Swope Soccer Village. It truly is an outstanding event!”
Admission to games is free all weekend. Spectators are always welcome as thousands of people are expected to attend and participate.
